An important question for candidates in elections: Why do you believe/support this?
Midterms are right around the corner. and as I've seen so many commercials on TV about how this politician believes this, or that, or another politician tries to say that politician REALLY believes and supports this or that...
It's part of the reason I hate election seasons. It always brings out the worst in people... but that's a post for another day.
Something I've been contemplating the last couple days. Simple question that we should ask every politician we consider supporting, doesn't matter if we're conservative, liberal, moderate, whatever, but it's a question that is almost never asked, but almost always assumed.
Why?
Why do you believe this or that? why do you support that? why are these subjects on your platform? What do you plan to do about it?
I can't tell you how many times I've seen politicians blindly supported because they're "pro life" or they're "pro-Israel" or they're "pro-biblical marriage" or on the flip side "they're pro choice" or "support LGBT" or "pro-Palestinian".
whichever side of the fence you're on, this isn't a post about what stance is right or wrong, or what's Christian and what's not. This is about are you being smart with who you're voting for and why, or are you blindly following a platform?
Did you know Satan would be pro-Israel? He loves the idea of Israel making the nation singularity Jewish, so that that it will prevent Christ from being openly shared among the Jewish people. And he loves it that it causes friction and even hate between Jewish believers and Arab believers within Israel.
Do you know Satan loves to support Biblical marriage, because it causes Christians to hate and attack those who are outside of Christ and living the homosexual lifestyle? And He really loves it when he can even make Christians hate other Christians attempting to form bridges and reach people living in sin for Christ.
Satan is very prolife, because he can use that to push Christians to hate and attack women who for whatever reason chose to have an abortion.
If Satan can use politics to demonize people who need to be introduced to Christ, so that the Children of God will avoid and even condemn them, then he's done his job and he's sitting laughing at our stupidity.
So, For example... why does "X Politician" say he's Pro-Life. Why does he have those virtues? And also what ARE those virtues? Do you care about the unborn baby, or do you care about the baby and the mother? Do you support programs that help with childcare? Do you have ideas or wish to support ideas that make alternate solutions to abortion more approachable and easier, such as adoption or opening up Medicaid and financial programs to all newborn children and their mothers so that the mother can spend more time in the vastly important early months and years in the bonding and developmental periods? Or... Are you prolife to get the vote of the Christian and Pro-Life voters with little to know knowledge or ideas to actually support besides "STOP ABORTION"?
Don't just throw a vote at a man or woman because he says pretty words toward things you believe. Find out what he or she believes. There's a reason so many call voters "sheep" and it's time we as American people got away from that. We need to stop being blind masses and support men and women who actually agree with our beliefs whatever those beliefs they may be.
Be smart. Do you research. if you have an opportunity ask them questions. listen to when others ask them questions. There's always the chance that they'll lie, but at least you can see their past and see how they answer questions to at least have a basic idea of what they belief and if they do truly believe in what you do, that they have ideas to move on those ideas in bring about change.
And always remember, they're not our leaders. they're not rulers. they're our representatives, from County all the way to the President of the United States. They are all where they are to represent us. Watch them. pay attention to what they're actually doing, not what they're saying. Talk is cheap. Look at the big picture, Are they doing things that bring about change? or are they foundering around till the next election period? They are our employees. Make sure they're doing a good job.
President Donald Trump mantra has been "Make America Great Again", and the best way to do this is to not let our feelings control our votes, but use knowledge and wisdom when we vote for our representatives in all levels of government.
One of the best ways in the United States to make a difference is to let your voice be heard in voting. But to truly make a difference is to do it with education and wisdom. To be smart after patiently and thoroughly studying and preparation. if the candidate has written papers or books, read them. If there are recorded speeches recently and older, watch them. If they have a voting history available, study it, that's especially a great idea to see where they actually act. Have they been involved in any programs or organizations that actually make a difference? Don't just take their words for it. put their feet to the fire. And last but very much not least. Pray for guidance, and then FOLLOW that guidance. even if that guidance leads you in a way you don't understand.
Whatever you believe would make this country better, be sure you know who you're voting for. And in doing so, we can make a difference.
It doesn't have to a rerun of the same show. We can see real change.
God bless,
Dusty
